About the Pay Dirt Slot
Pay Dirt is a 5-column slot machine game with a basic theme highlighting gold mines, mining, and back when life was much simpler than now. It shows off some farms in the background and each character shows a miner, lantern, or as you may have guessed, gold. However, there is basically no background music with the extremely faint sound of crickets every now and again and otherwise silence. The animation moves choppy and slow, coupled with a weird gameplay of using the spacebar to spin versus clicking a button. As a whole, the game just feels outdated and could use an overhaul of the graphics and music, while reevaluating the theme.
Music & Animation
Both the music and animation are very boring and critically lacking in substance. There is no music unless spinning and that’s it. It’s enough to put someone to sleep. The animation itself looks rudimentary and so cartoonish it almost hurts. It reminds me more of an educational game made for children than an adult slot game—and not in a fun way.. With these two items severely lacking, it’s difficult to find any allure to play the game at all and it’s rather disappointing.
Other Slot Machines You Might Enjoy
Pay Dirt does not stick out in playability at all. Instead of having buttons to press like most games, players use the spacebar to invoke spinning, which can be frustrating when trying to transition in and out of the game quickly. Otherwise, there is an auto play option available and that’s about it. The game is difficult to dedicate any real emotional investment into since there are other better-developed games out there available to play. A fun game to play through for the slots connoisseur, it’s difficult to see this one having any real staying power with any player.
