About Ninja Fruits Slots

Ninja Fruits is a slot game from Play’n GO, which is loosely based on the mobile game of the same name. Instead of swiping and slicing across the screen to ‘kill’ as many fruits as possible, however, this is all about the spinning reels and if anyone slices anything, it’s the ninjas with their katana or shuriken. One would not think that anime-style ninjas and semi-classic fruit machine would make a working theme, but this slot is surprisingly well done and quite gorgeous to look at. The gameplay has a few things on offer as well.

We can think of precious few Play’n GO slots that we didn’t like the look of. Ninja Fruits isn’t one of them. Indeed, we were quite impressed with its gorgeous and colourful graphics. Making a mixed-theme slot work is not an easy achievement, but the fruit-slicing ninja warriors somehow work. Add an old, wise master wild into the mix and a beautiful geisha scatter and you have a great assortment of characters.

The background sound and music are vaguely Japanese, but you can also hear blades slicing through the air, just waiting for something in their way to be cut. Whilst a surprising theme, it does work quite nicely.

You could even say it adds to the gameplay when a winning line of fruits gets sliced up and splattered around somewhat. And every once in a while a ninja dances across the reels, whenever you get enough in a payline to make a winning combination with them. It’s mostly a visual feature, however, that doesn’t really add to the gameplay, but makes for nice visuals.

Bonuses

This highly volatile slot lives of two features and they are not easy to come by. When playing, we found it easier to trigger the free spins, however.

You’ll get free spins when the geisha scatter shows up on reels 1, 3 and 5. She will then make a full body appearance on the screen, bringing her umbrella. That will determine which of the regular symbols will become an extra scatter and how many free spins you may get (usually between 8 and 15).

The extra scatter, by the way, will expand and cover the whole reel when there are at least three of them anywhere on the screen. But it’s possible to expand the scatter across all five reels. That’s where the biggest wins are possible and even one of the fruit symbols will bring in a lot of cash like this.

The click me bonus gets triggered when you get the shuriken scatter on reels 3, 4 and 5. That was devilishly difficult to achieve, but we managed it eventually. Here you can win a reported 150 times your bet. You’ll see the geisha and the master beside a few tables with fruits. Aim at the fruits with your shuriken and reveal coin prizes when you slice them up. Miss and the master destroy all remaining tables, ending the feature.

Summary

We found Ninja Fruits surprisingly fun and entertaining. The gameplay is engaging, even though it takes a while to trigger the bonus games. But at least there are two of them, which makes up for the lack of frequency. Plus, you can win handsomely in the free spin feature.

We don’t really know why anyone wouldn’t like Ninja Fruits. It has a great RTP and a beautiful theme. The slot works beautifully on mobile as well and it has everything you expect of a good, even great, slot. Since it is highly volatile, you’ll want to mind your budget, of course. You’ll only be able to get back your losses, if you get those scatters to expand during the free spin feature.
