Game in Action
NextGen Gaming always pays attention to detail in their slots. Emerald Isle has lots of lovely little visual details and manages to look quite beautiful. Even the card symbols with the Celtic decorations don’t seem out of place here. Add the pot of gold, the rainbow scatter, the leprechaun wild and a red-haired lass and you’ll have another good-looking slot right here.
The soundtrack might be a tad cheesy, but at least it goes well with the theme and doesn’t grind on your nerves. The slot is more entertaining than one might initially assume and can bring in some nice wins even in the base game.
With 20 paylines the slot isn’t hugely volatile, but you should still mind your budget, because it’s not all that easy on your wallet either.
Bonuses
Emerald Isle comes with two main features. The first and more frequent is the one with the chests of gold. You’ll need to spin the wild leprechaun onto reels 1 and 5 somewhere in order to trigger this pick me feature. You can basically click on as many chests here as you like, because you’ll need to find two matching amounts.
It’s entirely possible to walk away with just $4, perhaps multiplied by 2, but you can get up to $200 multiplied by 5, which makes this an interesting feature. The chests will not only reveal coin prizes but also multipliers, which will be added together.
The second feature to look out for is, of course, the free spin bonus. This is triggered by getting the rainbow scatter on at least three adjacent reels from left to right. When that happens you’re awarded with 10 free spins and all wins will get a 3x multiplier on top.
Unfortunately we found this feature very hard to trigger. If you’d only need scatters anywhere on the screen, it wouldn’t be that difficult, but getting them on three adjacent reels from left to right is a lot harder.

Summary
Somehow the click me bonus ends up the more exciting one out of the two here. It does come with a twist and can be a little hit or miss. But we found ourselves on the lucky side more often than not. And this is a slot that is all about luck, after all.
If the free spins weren’t so hard to trigger, we would likely have enjoyed the slot a little more. It’s still quite playable, but not getting the scatters lined up once after more than 200 spins can be somewhat frustrating, even if you play only for fun.
