Game in Action
Ancient Egypt really is a popular theme for slots, whether online or offline. Yet somehow pyramids don’t often feature prominently. With Pyramid, however, that changes. The reels are set in front of a looming pyramid, sort of forming the entrance. The symbols show us some generic card symbols as well as some recognizably Egyptian motifs. They remind us a little of Book of Ra, which is the classic of Egyptian themed slots.
Interesting is the layout, which features a 3x4x5x4x3 grid. It’s set and doesn’t expand like the one in Reel Rush, for instance. That offers a unique 720 ways to win this slot, which necessarily increases your winning opportunities and that’s just as well, because this slot will leave your starving in the desert, if you don’t be careful with your budget.
Pyramid doesn’t offer us any bonus game at all. So, if your slot must have a free spin or bonus feature, you’ll have to look elsewhere. Instead you have the avalanche feature that you already know from Gonzo’s Quest. Winning symbols explode and make room for new symbols falling onto the screen from above.
With the avalanche feature comes a multiplier. Every three successive wins the multiplier increases by 1x. It goes all the way up to 10x, but that means you need 30 winning spins in a row and that’s painfully difficult to get. You’ll get 3x often enough, though and maybe even 4x, which will keep you afloat.
It does help, however, that wilds are being created along the way and that increases your options of winning on the next consecutive spin. The catch? The wilds are only created if the top symbol on reels 2, 3 and/or 4 is part of the winning combination. The regular symbol disappears and is replaced by a wild, which either stays in place to create more winning combinations with new symbols or it falls down because a winning combination exploded below. The latter makes it more likely for new winnings combinations to appear.

Pyramid is a very volatile slot and you’ll feel as if you are indeed on a quest for immortality when you are waiting for ten or more consecutive wins. Those are not easy to come by, but they are worth the wait, because the multipliers keep climbing.
Be careful with your budget, though, because that might be eaten up way too soon. The gods are fickle and never as generous as you want them to be. That is most certainly true for the Egyptian pantheon. Still, if you like a straightforward approach and a no-frills slot with fantastic coin wins, you’ll be hooked on this one quickly.
