Drive: Multiplier Mayhem had the difficult task of following in the footsteps of Guns n’ Roses, NetEnt’s release prior to Drive. Would a futuristic car race be able to interest players and hold its own? The theme is certainly not for everyone. It is dark, it is slightly futuristic, the soundtrack sets a fast, exciting pace. The slot keeps it simple on the symbols with only a few characters, a race car and mostly standard card symbols from 10 to Ace.
But once you get the reels spinning you are hard pressed to stop. The overlay Wilds fall onto the screen and the effects are really well done. The race car on the left-hand side appears to be floating just above the street and the city slowly moves away in the distance. Visually the slot has a lot to offer and the effects may leave your jaw on the floor.

It doesn’t stop there, though. Even in the base game things get pretty interesting with the Multiplier Wilds, which look like a speedometer. Each real has its own unique Wild symbol and the multiplier corresponds with the number of the reel. That means the Wild reel 1 has no multiplier, reel 2 has a 2x multiplier and so forth until you get a 5x multiplier on reel 5.
Better still, the multipliers are multiplied. If you have a 2x and a 3x Multiplier Wild your win will in fact be multiplied by 6x. Get a (rare) 4x and 5x multiplier and you get a 20x on your win.
During the Free Spin round Wilds will show up even more frequently. Once you score three or more Scatter symbols, you will get 10 free spins to start you off. During the Free Spin Round things resemble a race even more.
On the left-hand side a Nitro-meter will appear and Nitro symbols will show up on reels 2, 3 and 4. Once one appears it will be added to your meter. When you’ve managed to collect three, you’ll have won the race and things get stepped up a notch, not only will you receive 4 additional free spins, you’ll also get a guaranteed Wild on every spin.
Make it to the next level and you will get a guaranteed 2 Wilds on every spin as well as 3 additional free spins. Finally, if you make it all the way to level 4, you will get 2 more free spins and 3 Wilds on every spin. It is there that you can score your highest wins.
Needless to say, the quicker you are able to collect more Nitros, the sooner you’ll be getting more guaranteed Wilds.

One thing is for sure, Drive: Multiplier Mayhem, is not for the faint of heart and it is not a boring slot. The soundtrack and the fast spinning reels will keep you on your toes. Wild overlays with added multipliers keep things interesting even in the base game and if you make it to the Free Spin Round, you’re in for some high-octane action that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
But it is also a game of patience, because wins are not very frequent and neither is the Free Spin Round unless you are very lucky indeed (we did manage to score 3 scatters within our first 10 spins). It is worth sticking around, however, because the rewards can be very handsome. And just watching the game unfold and revelling in its great effects and awesome graphics will help you get there.
