Football Star, like the other games in this series, doesn’t use actual licensed images of players or teams. If you’re anything like us, then you’ll only realize this after staring at the symbols for many minutes, trying to work out just who they are. Fortunately, this will not hurt your enjoyment of this game, and doesn’t really have any bearing on it at all.
Football Star has a rolling reels feature, which is active throughout the slot, but really comes into its own during the bonus round. This feature has been used on many big Microgaming titles and allows you to stack-up those big wins. Basically, it eliminates any winning symbols that you land and drops others into place, stretching a single spin and turning one win into many.
The wild symbols are also very big on Football Star, and these work wonders with the Rolling Reel feature.
Bonuses
Keep an eyelet for the football symbol, which acts as the scatter symbol. You need just three of these to unlock Football Star’s main bonus round, getting 15 free spins for your trouble. If you get five of them then you’ll unlock 25 free spins, with those 10 extra spins going a very long way. Every time you land a winning payline in this feature, you’ll unlock a 2x multiplier. Land another and this will increase to 3x, and so on, stopping when you get to 10x. Of course, this only applies to a single spin, and the counter will reset when that spin finishes and the next one begins.
As with the other games in this series, Football Star has a randomly activated feature that turns one of the three middle reels wild. This is more common than the free spins round, but more often than not the rewards it brings are considerably less. It’s a nice addition those and if you land it at the right time, and on the right reel, then the wins it can generate have the potential to dwarf those provided by the free spins round.
