The beauty of Once Upon a Time is that when you look past the stunning graphics, the animated pay-lines and background and the polished layout, you get a game that pays very well on a basic level. For instance, the princess in the tower symbol pays as much as 2500x your line bet if you land 5 of them, whilst even the fourth highest symbol pays 1250 for 5, which is more than the highest symbol on many other slots. Small and insignificant wins are very infrequent here, which means that if you win then it’s usually worth it. That’s a huge plus in a slot, as few things annoy gamblers more than seeing the words “win”, before getting a fraction of their stake back in return.
Bonuses
There are many bonus rounds and features to get through here. We can begin with the biggest one, known as Save the Princess and triggered via the knight symbol. This is a graphically advanced bonus round, bordering on a mini-game, and it is one of the most enjoyable and visually appealing we have ever seen. There are also a couple of instant win rounds, one of which comes when you land a combination of the knight symbol and the princess in the tower symbol, and another when you land the sack of coins symbol. There is also a free spins round, which comes courtesy of the goblins symbols and activates a unique set of reels; and a Goblin’s Treasure Round, which is as big and as impressive as the main bonus round.
To top it off, there is also something known as a Fire Starter feature. This comes when you land the dragon symbol on the first spot of reel 3, and when it activates it makes the entire reel wild.

Summary
Like many slot fans, one of the things that really gets us excited is a multitude of bonus rounds and random features, and Once Upon a Time has these in abundance. That’s not all though, because this is also a very attractive, very generous and very fun game, and one that fully deserves top marks. We like to find fault with the games that we play and we usually find enough of them to forgo full marks, but in this case we couldn’t find a single one.
