Chase the Cheese uses a simplified format, one that you might not have seen anywhere else. There are only four reels and the paylines are also limited, but with fewer symbols as well, the wins are fairly frequent.
The highest paying symbol here is the pot of cash, emblazoned with the word “jackpot”. As well as triggering a release of 7,500x your line bet, it also releases the progressive jackpot, which is usually less than this amount. The mouse symbol also pays well, whilst the wild symbol can also greatly boost your winnings.
Bonuses
The main bonus round in Chase the Cheese is reminiscent of the platform video game genre, with a cute little mouse assuming a role typically performed by Mario or Donkey Kong. You control the mouse as he runs and jumps over obstacles, avoiding creepy spiders and picking up crumbs of cheese, before slipping through a mouse hole and escaping with the spoils. Of course, as with the platform games of old, you have three lives to spend and there is also a time limit, with the game ending and your credits being released as soon as it expires.
This is the only bonus round in Chase the Cheese, but for nostalgic value alone this gets a thumbs-up from us. It is also very generous, and on the two occasions we triggered this round (which occurs via the Chase the Cheese scatter symbol) we received in excess of 20x our stake.

Summary
Chase the Cheese has all of the hallmarks of something that we would be disappointed with. After all, we expect a lot from BetSoft and graphically speaking this game doesn’t deliver. It also has more of a classic, arcade feel to it, which we typically don’t like. However, Chase the Cheese just works. We’re not sure whether this is because big wins are never too far away, or because the bonus round is so fun, but whatever it is, Chase the Cheese is a good little game. It’s far from the best we have seen, but if you’re looking for something a little different, then this could be just what you need.
Of course, if you are looking for a game with many features, a free spins round and stacks of pay-lines, then Chase the Cheese definitely will not be what you’re looking for.
