After Night Falls is very aesthetically pleasing, with some painstaking attention to detail paid to ensure that everything fits the theme and looks great in the process. The symbols are mostly high value and there are also some animations in place (just leave the game untouched if you want to see more of these). However, the game is very disappointing, because despite a high RTP, wins are actually few and far between. The only saving grace is that when they do come, they are usually several times your stake — the sort of small wins that annoy all slot fans do not exist here. So those that don’t like high variance, you should stay away.
The highest paying symbols are the detective himself, as well as the cat, paying 250x and 150x respectively for 5 lines.
Bonuses
The free spins round is unlocked when you land at least 3 of the scatter symbols. 3 of them will get you 10 spins, 4 will get you 15 and 5 will get you 25. Once the round is triggered you will move to the “detective’s” office (a small twist at the end reveals it’s not actually his), where a duplicate game is in place. The only difference here is that there is a random multiplier attached to the reels, and this changes every time you spin. Still, as mentioned above, this doesn’t mean anything if you don’t land any wins and during our first two free spins rounds we didn’t win a single credit.
There is also a moving wild feature, whereby the wild symbol triggers free spins whilst moving around the reels. Also, if you land three of the criminal symbols then you will activate a “choose-me” feature. At anytime you can also double-up your winnings via a simple mini-game.

Summary
After Night Falls has a lot to offer. The graphics are fantastic, the animations are smooth and the bonus rounds are great fun. The only issue we have with After Night Falls is that wins are very hard to come by, despite what the RTP says. This is not a small issue, because no matter how fun it is, it gets very frustrating very quickly if you don’t win anything. For that reason alone, we’re giving After Night Falls 8/10 as opposed to 10/10. You might have more luck than we did though, and if you do then you’re in for a treat.
